Toys from Filimonovo (Tulskaya oblast, Central Russia), where the craft has been known since the 16th century. The toys acquired their present-day form at the beginning of the 19th century, which is attested by the type of headdress worn by the “ladies”, “soldiers” and “horsemen”. Typical of these toys are their elongated proportions, which may be attributed to the properties of the local clay and the firing process, and their bright stripes of different colors.
