Oyat Toys

Alekhovshchina Village (Lodeynopolskiy district, Leningradskaya oblast) is largely a Vepsian settlement. The craft gets its name from the Oyat River and has been known since the 18^th century. Toys are made of red clay and painted over with engobes, using copper sulphate as a coloring agent, and then glazed.
