Pleshkovo Toys

This toy-making craft comes from Pleshkovo village, Orel oblast, and has been known since the end of the 17^th century. There are various subjects: ladies, cows, horses, horsemen, cockerels with raised wings, ‘Sirin’-birds, two-headed horses. Two of the most distinctive characters are a woman with one normal hand and another made in the shape of a whistle and a soldier modelled on the same principle.
