This craft has been known since the 18th century and is connected with the production of glazed tiles. It was restored in the 1990s in Kurakino village in the Kirillovsky district of Vologda oblast (province), near the Ferapontov Monastery. The toys are covered with two layers of glaze, painted and then fired. Prominent features of Yaroslavl Majolica are genre scenes and delicate artistic painting.
